This time through I see all the division - broken hearts, the yin-yang symbol, splits down the middle of the page. The flag across and the buildings up and down, division. It is so much for us to take in as adults... I can only imagine what it is

for kids. I'm a little relieved that the younger kids weren't there for it.
Still, I see the strength in those drawings and the hope. I believe their world will be more kind and compassionate.
I pushed away 9/11 all day and I really needed this. Thanks Syd... you held this with so much love.

Out of the mouths (drawings) of babes - there are no words to express the feelings.

It distresses me that the kids are drawing stuff like that...I used to draw pictures of my family, house, bike, skateboard, dog so on, now we see little kids worrying about death like that..I don't think I even knew what a terrorist was until I was about

Just a 'little' question on what seemed a jarring note among all those pics...

I'm glad the children are given an opportunity to express their feelings through art. A credit to you and the other teachers in the school - the kids are a creative bunch and that is a cause for hope too.
I did grow up in a world of fear, as there was

a threat of nuclear obliteration but I suppose it seemed just background noise to us as kids. (I didn't realise until I was an adult just how close we had come to WW3 with the Bay of Pigs incident).
The media make it much more in the childrens' face and unavoidable nowadays, so I agree there is a loss of innocence to some degree. But allowing them the space to discuss and work it out for themselves can lead to them making better decisions than us in the future, I think.

Hi Syd,
WOW! What a great inspiring piece! This brought tears to my eyes big time, I guess because I feel, like so many of us do, that day changed us and had a profound effect on us. The artwork of those children speaks volumes! Thanks so much for sharing.

Children are hope! I have a 10 year old and a twelve old, so I know exactly what you're saying. What a lovely video. Please tell your students that I loved their artistic expressions! They are very beautiful! I'm saving this to my channel. Yes,

our children are growing up in fearful times, but they are also growing up more courgageous and caring than we did, because they have been exposed to the pain of the world. Take care.

The FEAR Chronicles: The Next Generation of Fear
What does it mean to grow up in a paradigm full of fear (the terrorist threat, the war on terror, evil axis, etc)?
What's really communicated to young people when world leaders engage in wars without consequence
more...
(freedom on the march, no accountability for deception on a global scale, no personal consequences for leaders making decisions that continue to cost thousands of innocent lives) while the adults in their lives tell them violence is not the way?
What goes unspoken while they watch the nightly news, seeing bloodied children being carted away on stretchers and then being asked, via bumper-stickers-galore, to support the troops without questioning what that looks or sounds like.
Sometimes all it takes is a few markers, a big piece of paper, and about fifteen minutes of their time.
