made me hungry for bread all over again. when i made it last i also added two egg whites and another teaspoon of caraway seeds. my wife loves this bread and it is great when toasted also.

Excellent! Thank you and Mr. Haney for this recipe. Is your buttermilk gone by now? The dry buttermilk powder also works well in my recipes.

I'm on my second quart of buttermilk, Judith, so now I'll need to do some more baking to use it all up! I'll never bake without it from now on. Thanks for the tip on the powder....didn't know about that! That's definitely on my shopping list.

Baking soda, i have never used, my mom still used that many years ago
