Sitting there
the sterile blue plastic chairs
the bullet proof glass
pick up a phone to talk to a person
so uninviting
so cold
Tear stained face
hands shaking
picking up the phone
words spoken through hiccups
caused by uncontrollable crying
shaking
She tells her story
the words come out
so familiar
like it was yesterday
the threats
the physical actions
the things he did to me
but its not me
its her now
my daughter
at 20
where I was
at 20
with her Dad
speaking the same words
I see her fear
I feel her pain
Domestic violence order in place
she's safe
at least
she
was smarter than me
and got out right away
