Philip Walsted, 24, was struck in the head with a baseball bat nearly twenty times and killed in Tucson, Arizona on more...June 12, 2002 because he was gay. He worked for American Airlines in Reservation Sales and lived with his partner Jonathan. Loved by many this attack and his death has left a void in many peoples lives. A 365Gay.com news article says the crime started as a robbery, but the killer's neo-Nazi beliefs and hatred of gay people were the cause of the murder.
News reports cite friends and loved ones as describing Philip Walsted as fun-loving, sweet and innocent. A small memorial was created in an Arizona park to honor and remember Philip.
David Higdon, the man convicted of killing Philip Walsted, was sentenced to life in prison. less
